As Cannes Festival is on in the French Riviera right now I thought I’d show you a couple of things from the new L’Or Lumiere Cannes collection by L’Oréal Paris.
One of my biggest beauty regrets last year was not nabbing a single thing from last year’s Cannes collection by L’Oréal (it was limited edition!) & so I was heavily anticipating this year’s collection & I must say it does not disappoint one bit. The collection includes the Vivacious Moist Matte lipsticks, Super Liner Gelmatic eye liners, Infallible Mono eye shadows and Color Riche Nail Colors. I currently have two products, a lipstick & eyeliner. Read on to know what I think about them-

L’Oréal Paris Moisture Matte Lipstick in R518 Flaming Kiss
Matte has never been so rich! L’Oréal Paris launches a revolutionary new range of lipsticks – Color Riche Moist Matte, with pure pigments that deliver intense luscious color for a full 6 hours in 12 irresistible shades of pure indulgence. It is enriched with new Light Illium complex for a rich matte effect, velvet fusion capsules and Ultra Gliding Shine oils to provide a smooth and silky application and Jojoba oil to give absolute hydration for up to 4 hours.
This lipstick is the main reason I am so excited about this year’s collection is this fabulous lipstick. I want to say that this might be one of the best lipsticks I’ve tried this year & the best matte lipstick I’ve tried ever… but I’m getting ahead of myself. Onto the review.
When I first heard / read about this I was sceptical. Moisture matte sounded like such an oxymoron, so I had to check it out for myself.

The first impression is of course the packaging, something that is pretty significant to me when I’m picking up a new product! The tube is very sleek looking rose gold (my camera did a rubbish job of capturing it because it’s so reflective but it looks so nice in person!) with a small square in front indicating the color, which is great especially if you plan to own more of these!
I love matte lipsticks, but the texture can be a pain. Of all the ones I’ve tried tend to range from slightly drying (MAC Lady Danger / Nyx Matte lipstick) to very drying (MAC Ruby Woo). Even the ones that appear to glide on at first usually set to a very dry finish that constantly makes you aware that you have something on your lips. The Moist Matte glides on very smoothly (no tugging or pulling) & gives completely vibrant, opaque pigmentation in one swipe. I usually go over once more just to shape the corners & make sure I’ve filled it in properly. It looks a little shiny when first applied then settles down to a mostly matte finish. I say mostly because there is still a little bit of shine in there, in doesn’t look flat like a true matte lipstick. I’d say satin-matte (is that even a thing?) This is not something that bothers me in the least because I still love the dreamy finish but if you are a complete matte finish fanatic & you might not like that aspect although I’d still urge you to swatch it for yourself & try it out. It also stains a little, which is always a plus with lip products.
The color is a warm toned tomato red with a hit of orange. It’s an especially flattering shade for Indian skin as warm toned lipsticks tend to brighten our faces! (note: undertones have nothing to do with your shade like dark/fair. I for one thing this will suit any color, you just need to wear it with confidence).
And lastly let’s tackle the pricing aspect. I was a little taken aback when I first saw it myself. L’Oréal is more or less a drugstore brand & the lipstick seems to be priced rather high. But the formula definitely rivals high end lipsticks. And considering that MAC lipsticks are just 3gms (let me do the math for you – MAC lipsticks are 1.2 gms smaller & cost ₹100 more) I’d say that the product fully justifies the price. This is available in 10 colours in India.

L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic Pen in Deep Brown
L’Oreal Paris introduces its first gel eye liner in a Twist Up pen format – L’Oreal Paris Super Line Gel Matic. The product is created with an exclusive formulation of ingredients and is designed to last for up to 12 hours giving an intense matte colour pay off. The product has a pen-precision for a super easy application, the intensity of a gel and is totally smudge proof. Comes in five rich, luxurious shades.
Gel liner is my favorite kind of liner to wear but since my tubs tend to dry out all too soon so I was very interested to try this out. I like that it’s twist up – no wastage. It’s a pretty thing liner so it’s easy to get a precise line. The swatch on my hand is just one swipe but I had to swipe a couple of times to get it to show up on my eyes. Brown liner is quite different than my usual makeup (by that I mean that I tend to stick to black) but this was a nice look for a change, much softer. I also applied this on my waterline & it didn’t smudge. They have quite good lasting power & after a while it can fade a little but it doesn’t smudge.
I also discovered quite by accident that the bottom of the liner (the part which usually indicates the colour comes of to reveal a tiny sharpener which you can use to create a very precise point after the initial pointedness has worn down.

Super minimal face of the day wearing the products.
If you didn’t get this from the rest of the post, I think it’s a top knotch collection & highly recommend both the products I tried. They also have some kits of this range available (online only) here. They have bundled a few things from the L’Or Lumiere Cannes collection at heavy discounts so worth checking out if they’re the shades you like.
Did you check out the L’Oréal Paris L’Or Lumiere Cannes collection yet? It’s available in stores & online (on flipkart, you can buy the lipstick here & the eyeliner here) Anything in particular strike your fancy? Let me know.
love,
Magali
