Last year Maybelline launched their Clear Glow BB Cream (first BB Cream in India). Now they’ve gone ahead & launched something new, the Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick.
There’s no white line on the tube or anything! It’s just shiny & hence difficult to photograph.
A lot of brands have BB Creams (in the world, I mean. There are currently just three in India). But nobody has a BB Stick. When I first heard of it, I was confused & intrigued. I had to know more.
What they promise: Flawless, radiant skin + 12hr shine control + 8 benefits in just 1 step!
1. Mineral clay formula guarantees 12hr shine control.
2. Contains Salicylic acid to manage combination & oily skin.
3. Provides a soft, matte and radiant finish.
4. Sweat-resistant and sebum – resistant formula leaves skin fresh all day.
5. Hides appearance of pores & imperfection.
6. Contains SPF 21/PA+++ that protects skin from sun damage.
7. Instantly evens skin tone.
8. Provides a power-light feel on skin.

The product itself resembles a foundation stick. It brought back memories – my mom isn’t a big makeup user but I remember her having one of these when I was young (around 8).
At this point I was a little intimidated by the product. I don’t use any kind of foundation. I’ve tried a few in the past (both mousse & cream) but I never liked them. They were always too heavy, too difficult to blend or too shiny & there are very few products for oily skin so I just stick with a good powder compact most of the time.
The BB Stick is available in two shades, Radiance & Fawn; I got the latter. The packaging is quite nice, it comes in a sturdy tube. I swatches in on my hand & tried blending. Thought it would be a pain but it blended so nicely… it basically disappeared but left a nice finish (isn’t that what a good foundation should do?)

My skin doesn’t look this orange in real life. Wrong camera settings, I guess.

I don’t like the fragrance very much, it’s slightly unpleasant. But you can only smell it if you put the tube near your nose during application, thankfully it doesn’t cling on. I applied all over my face & blended. Coverage is quite decent (more than enough for me but it won’t cover blemishes). The finish is not matte, sort of demi-matte.Somewhere in between, a nice dewy/hydrated look. I still used a little layer of powder to finish.
Then I went out. Not for 12 hours, just 5. In those five hours, I was in travelled by rickshaw & bus (anyone in Mumbai knows what that’s like – so much dust & pollution, especially in the afternoon!) I didn’t touch up (or even look at my face, for that matter).
After I got home at night I went to the mirror & wow! I liked what I saw. My skin still looked lovely. A pleasant sort of shine but not oily.
Now the last part of the test was to wait & see it it disturbed my skin in any way (I have very sensitive skin that’s so easily irritated!) But no, nothing. It has salicylic acid is a good for acne / pimple prone skin.
I didn’t even expect to love this so much but I do. Definitely love it more than the BB Cream. Each tube is 10gms which will last quite a while.

Useful tip: This is a great base for lipstick if you have pigmented lips & not-so-pigmented lipstick. Just swipe a little above your upper lip & below your lower lip & blend. It really makes some lipsticks & Revlon lip butters pop on my lips. Just make sure not to put it on the outside so you don’t lick it up 😉

Pros:
✔ Easy to blend
✔ Lasts 5 hours without any touch-ups
✔ Controls oil
✔ Didn’t irritate my skin
✔ Economical
Cons:
None that I can think of.
Price: ₹250 for 10 gms
Rating: 4.5/5
Will I Repurchase? Yes!
The Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick is economical, compact & will work well for most Indian skin tones.
love,
Magali
