Revlon has been coming up with a lot of new products lately. I go to one of their counters for Super Lustrous lipsticks, I end up leaving with lip butters. I go to buy more lip butters & I ended up leaving with this (& a lip butter!)
I’ve been seeing the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain on foreign blogs for a while now, but as always India gets these products late, oh well.
I had gone to Lifestyle to pick buy some lip butters when she suggested I look at this newly launched product, & I was all aha! Why didn’t I think of asking earlier?. When buying make up, I usually prefer searching all the shades available online, reading review on beauty blogs etc. before making a decision. I wasn’t familiar with the shades here so wasn’t sure what to get. Some of them had shimmer & I really really hate shimmer! But after 5 minutes of swatching all the shades & asking both my mom & the sales assistant for their opinions I finally chose Smitten.

What they promise: It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 10 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.
• Lightweight Lipstain + Moisturizing Balm
• 100% of women who tried it felt their lips were instantly moisturized with a soft stain of color
• Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required
First of all, let’s talk about the product name. I like it when brands try to give their products unique & quirky names. But Just Bitten Kissable, what is this? Associating pretty lips with kisses is obvious, but what is with the just bitten part. Is it some veiled reference to a Vampire flick? Is it supposed to mean that you have bitten someone (& you’re a vampire) or that a vampire has bitten you? And if a vampire has bitten you, won’t you be really pale because you just got exsanguinated (i.e. drained of your blood)? See? It doesn’t make sense from any angle!
But I digress.
Onto the packaging, I know what you’re thinking. These look almost exactly like Clinique Chubby sticks. And you’re right. But these have a strong stain while the Chubby Sticks are more moisturizing  less color tinted lip balms. And the chubby sticks cost ₹400 more.
This crayon packaging seems to be catching on in a big way. I like that it’s retractable & you don’t need to sharpen (sharpeners not only waste product, they’re just another thing to carry in your makeup bag). But all in all I’m not feelin’ crayon packaging. It seems very childish, like some actual crayons I had in school. But it might grow on me… no guarantees.

Swatch – single swipe & built up (2-3 swipes).
The shade itself is fuchsia with a little bit of plum. It has a peppermint fragrance (love!) but you can only smell it while applying & a few minutes after. It even feels a little cool on application (possibly contains menthol?)
It glides on easily & feel slightly moisturising too (not as much as the lip butters though). It’s decently pigmented on the first swipe itself, & it’s buildable. It doesn’t last very long if you wear it sheer – I tried it on at home & was disappointed to see it fade away fast. But if you build it up to full intensity (6-7 swipes) it lasts quite a while. It lasted 4 hours through some drinks & a meal & even when it started to fade it left an (uneven) stain behind.

This is not full intensity, just two swipes. You can make this much brighter.

About the balm component, it’s definitely not as moisturizing as promised. The balmy effect fades much faster than the stain & your lips will feel dry later on. So definitely not a product you’d reach out for if your lips are already dry / chapped.

Pros:
✔ A nice shade that can be worn sheer or intense.
✔ Easy to apply
✔ Lasts a long time without any touch-ups, doesn’t go away after a meal.
✔ Travel friendly
✔ Easily available at Revlon counters.
Cons:
✘ Drying after a while
Price: ₹600 for 2.7 gms
Rating: 4.5/5
Will I Repurchase? I like the shade a lot. If I manage to finish it I will definitely buy another one.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stain in Smitten is a pretty shade of fuchsia that is easily wearable & universally flattering. You can build it up to desired intensity & it doesn’t require constant reapplications
