I had been interested in checking out The Pantry ever since it opened late last year & a few days ago I finally went.
Even before our food came I was already in love with the place, mainly because of the decor – white walls with large windows that let plenty of natural light flow in, a wall embellished with pretty kitchen equipment, reclaimed wood tables & Marais chairs. Even the menu comes on a vintage-style clipboard. They focus on serving organic food with locally sourced ingredients (a first for any restaurant in Mumbai, I think).
Strawberry & mint milkshake with pomegranate & sweet lime juice in the background (even the water is cucumber infused!)Marguerite mix salad – Gorgonzola (sourced from Pondicherry), dried fig & almonds with argula.
Sweet meltdown sandwich – Gorgonzola & fresh apple, multigrain bread.

I was very interested in a few things from the breakfast menu. But we forgot all about there being a cutoff time & reached there 15 minutes late. There aren’t many tables – luckily there were a couple of tables but soon the place filled up & there was a line outside.
I wanted very much to like the food but sadly I didn’t. I don’t think it’s because it’s badly made, I just found that I really dislike the taste of blue cheese. They don’t serve any alcoholic drinks which is fine by me but a few meat sandwiches they had around launch are no longer in the menu.
So in the end, not crazy about the food but I’d still go there again for the great ambience & service (next time I’ll try & make it for breakfast!)
