I’ve been obsessed with the idea of wearing red lipstick since late last year, so it’s only fitting that my first ever face of the day post is all about the color.
I knew early on that I wanted to wear a true orange lipstick (tangerine!), not red orange or coral. Finding the right shade was a bit of challenge & then when I did I knew I needed a few things to make it work.

The Heroes
The three orange products without which this look wouldn’t have been possible are-
1. Colorbar Lip Definer Liner 007 Sizzling Orange (reviewed here) – I’ve learnt that you don’t always need lip liners to match every lipstick, but it really helps. Especially with creamier lipsticks (like the Sleek one I’m using here) they help the lipstick stay put & not feather. I think I should invest in at least one liner per color group.
2. Sleek True Colour Lipstick Tangerine Scream – I had been searching for an orange lipstick (something like MAC Morange, but cheaper) when I found this on Bharti’s blog & I knew my search had ended. Just the color I wanted & oh-so-pigmented in one swipe! Also, it just so happens to be a very close dupe of MAC Morange (at half the price) SCORE! It’s very creamy & glides on so easily (the finish is called Sheen). The only cons I can find is that it’s creaminess means it might slide around without a liner. Also, it seems to get used rather quickly. After just a couple of uses the shape of the bullet looked quite used. I don’t fathom this will last very long if I use it often, but I don’t so I don’t really mind. I’d definitely like to try more colors from the range.
3. Sleek Life’s A Peach Blush – I knew that my regular, earthy pink blush wouldn’t work with orange lipstick (& bare cheeks might look too stark). To wear orange lips you need either a peachy blush or bronzer & I opted for the latter. I was a little scared looking at it in the pan (because conventional wisom says that blush has to be some shade of pink) but it looks so good on! I do a couple of swipes for each cheek & blend like crazy. It looked so nice on, I thought it was even better looking than pink blush on me. So peachy blushes look good on almost anyone but people with olive / mid to dark skin & yellow undertones (like me) should definitely try one.

The Sleek Tangerine Scream lipstick & Colorbar Tangerine Mojito nail polish are so similar!

The Products

Here’s all of the products used for the look-
face:
∙ Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick Fawn – As a base. My go to face makeup, very quick & easy.
∙ Collection 2000 Lasting Finish Concealer Dark – On the under eye area. I read so many rave reviews of this drugstore concealer from UK & since it isn’t available online I bought it from eBay. It’s my first concealer so I’m not exactly sure what to expect but I don’t like it much. It’s a bit light for me, despite being their darkest shade! Oh well, the search continues (I’d love to hear concealer recommendations, preferably available locally).
eyes:
∙ Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick Bad Bronze – Took a break from my usual black gel eyeliner to try this shadow stick. Just applied it as an eyeliner on my upper lid & smudged a bit. These are not bad but not great.
∙ Maybelline Colossal Volum Express Mascara – A nice mascara that looks pretty natural but still adds a little something. This is not waterproof, so easy to remove but I’m scared to wear it when it’s raining.
∙ Sleek Brow Kit – A handy kit with a gel + dark powder to fill in brows. It works really well, although it was pretty useless using it for this look because my bangs had grown & you could hardly see my brows.
cheeks:
∙ Sleek Life’s a Peach Blush – On the apples of my cheek.
∙ theBalm Mary Lou Manizer (currently on sale!) – Used as an inner eye highlight & on cheekbones. Full review coming soon, but basically I love this stuff. It’s more expensive that I’m usually willing to spend for a single makeup item but absolutely worth it… I’m sad I didn’t wait for it to go on sale. It’s a very big quantity, easy to work with & will suit all skin tones. One of my first purchases from Feelunique & I really like their service. Quick delivery every time & no customs fees.
lips:
∙ Sleek True Color Lipstick Tangerine Scream
So that was my first ever face of the day! Any questions or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment here or on facebook. Also, this may be one of my last photos with long hair – I got a drastic haircut!
