The Renaissance Mumbai has long been one of my favorite hotels in Mumbai for a variety of reasons. It’s not far from where I live, it has the most gorgeous view (see these photos I took from their lawns last year).
They’re having a Malaysian Food Festival till the 24th of this month so of course I had to go check it out!
They have two chefs, Chef Ridzuan & Chef Rhap who have come down from the Renaissance Johor Bahru especially for the festival.
The live grilling counter – if you’re into seafood, definitely try the Calamari from here!I like that the festival has a very interactive spin to it, I most enjoyed making my own soup – choosing that ingredients & topping it with flavorful chicken broth.
There were a lot of vegetarian options too.
The dessert area too had a few Malaysian specialities. Don’t miss the wonderfully light Bailey’s Mousse Cake.

Despite having visited Malaysia a couple of times, I didn’t really sample too much of the local fare then so I can’t comment on the authenticity, but I enjoyed the way this festival is set up & I really felt like there was something for everyone, whatever your taste may be. And hey, if you go for it & realize you don’t like Malaysian, there are a lot of other equally delicious options in the rest of the buffet. The chefs & even our waiter did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable.
